Hello
The shower in my rental house is fed from the hot water tank. There is a shower pump/booster in the airing cupboard.

The tenant said the pump is extremely loud when the shower is being used. There is also black dusty residue coming out from it. He thinks internal parts are wearing against each other which is making the noise and creating the black dust underneath it.

What could be the problem? Does it mean the water pump has to be replaced? I checked Screwifix and it could cost from £150 to £500.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

What could be the problem?
May just be worn out, or there may be other problems such as it drawing air into the water when in use which will destroy it, or the inlets/outlets are blocked with limescale, dirt or whatever else.

It will need to be replaced, but if there are other problems they must be resolved first otherwise the replacement could be destroyed in a few weeks or months.

Screwfix do not install anything, so their prices are unrelated.
