I’m going to need to buy the Dow 785+ Sanitary Silicone Sealant Jasmine colour in about 3 to 4 weeks time to seal up my bathroom edges. I’m placing an online order which includes free delivery now. Is it too early to buy these now and let them sit around? Or is it safe to buy it and store it? Considering they not that cheap per tube I don’t want them going off.

Unopened tubes of sealant typically keep for years

Regards keeping them usable after opening, I tend to unscrew the nozzle, put a wipe of silicone on the base and then screw it back on, to seal between the nozzle and the cartridge body, and when I’m done using it I make sure the nozzle is well plugged up with something suitable that doesn’t let air to the silicone (use a round nail, not a screw, for example)

I did always wonder if I kept them nozzle down in a bucket of water, would they keep better.. (maybe; though the plunger in the carrridge sometimes lets air in and solidifies the silicone at the plunger end making it harder to use)
Never tried it

Stock typically has a 12- 18 month shelf life from date of manufacture on the tube, after that is can become lumpy and eventually a solid lump in the tube.Recently opened a new tube which was near the end of expiry date and was already getting lumpy .
