Hi,
I'm just having my bathroom re-fitted. We are finding silver coloured 22mm/ 3/4 water pipe. It isn't magnetic. Possibly 1950s

Any idea what it's made of?

run your fingers around the pipe and see if you feel a seam, if you do it is Truwell, good luck with that stuff

Hi,
Yes, it's Truwell. Some is marked and all have a seam.

We are cutting most of it out.

Looking inside it, there is no corrosion and this one is hot tap water.

Why isn't it magnetic?

We want to connect to copper. Should we use olive compression fitting or the builder likes using plastic push on fittings. I suggested adding boss white, but he thinks it will slip. What do you think?

It was from the copper shortage, it's like a zinc treated mild steel. Don't see much now that hasn't disintegrated.

Late 70's I think. Don't cut some of it out.... Cut it all out.
Hi D,
In another world, I would do that, but at the moment, we have to join it and hope for the best.

Perhaps you would hint at the best way with the fitting mentioned above

Dan is right cut it all out not worth the hastle to try and join to it, its horrible stuff wait till you try and cut it, surprised you havent been flooded by it already

Early 70's ;) then the late 70's shortage saw loads of foreign hard unbendable copper:(
