Silver water pipe, what is it?

We want to connect to copper. Should we use olive compression fitting or the builder likes using plastic push on fittings. I suggested adding boss white, but he thinks it will slip. What do you think?

If you let him re-tile and seal up over that remaining pipe, think how you will feel ripping it all up again when (not if) it leaks.

Seriously, bite the bullet and get it all removed while it is easily accessible.

Hi S,

All of the bathroom is new, it's just where he's connected to existing pipework under fitted carpets and in the loft, that bit can be replaced easily, if there's a drip.

you wont get any plastic fittings to fit it, the pipes are not 15mm and 22mm

If that were the case, how would you get comp fitttings on then?

OP, don't use plastic push fit fittings, they will come off due to the hardness of the pipe not allowing the grab rings to bite.

He's using 15mm and 22mm compression fittings. The pipes are 15.09 and 21.55mm

Compression is likely to crush the pipe before it bites properly and plastic struggles due to the surface hardness and size and it's not very spherical.

yes but last time I tried to fit a 15mm compression straight to 1/2" inch Truwell I was filing the pipe for best part of an hour to get the olive on and then it sheared the pipe after about a month or so , replace the lot is the only real answer
