I have a small drip coming from the cap nut of the thermostatic valve on my radiator. I've tried tightening it, but there's still a drop appearing although it takes a long time. I've just put down laminate flooring, so I really don't want even a slight leak. Is there any way that a can make a better seal without having to replace the valve?

Unless it's a very old valve the cap doesn't provide a water seal. If you remove it there is normally a pin which is pushed down by the head. You'll probably find that the valve is leaking at the seal around this pin. It looks like new valve time.
