a smoke pellet deposited at the bottom of your flue which will create a certain volume of smoke
if all smoke travels up your flue, and exits through the terminal at chimney, this will give you a quick,cheap and effective method of testing your flue for draw/leaks
Sorry I'm on my iPhone hence the typos. Thanks for the tip I'll see if I can get some. However I know the problem exists now... Maybe we need a cowel that stops it blowing back down.
I'll get some pellets and test it before work in daylight. Hopfully they are easy to come by in my local town.
