Yes, the hospital in Truro, the main hospital for Cornwall as of yesterday had 4 cases. I dread to think how many thousands of procedures and appointments will be cancelled because of this, I dread to think how many people will die because the underfunded and understaffed NHS in Cornwall devote all their time keeping 4 people alive.

To put that in perspective, at the previous peak, there were 12 cases in Truro.

I'm sorry but at this point in time, I cannot see a 'stressed' NHS, not that I could last time, Nightingale hospitals anyone?

In harder hit areas have indeed become a bit... let's say... busy with covid.
The fact Cornwall isn't too bad at the moment is great.

I doubt appts will be cancelled until a hospital is beginning to get too busy, there's been mentions of that - as well as getting help from other boroughs. Hey, here's a thought - let's wait until Cornwall catches up with the N.East/London etc before acting eh? Or perhaps, let's save Cornwall from getting to that stage and not having to cancel everything else..

I knew it was coming.

The public are ignorant. I still see a lot of people walking around without wearing masks or gloves. Supermarket/Fast food staff do not wear masks but are mingling with the public in stores. Are they immune or what? During the height of lockdown, entry to stores was restricted and everyone had to follow a one-way system instore but now that is not enforced. I still see smokers smoking and vaping around and no doubt spreading their germs. Let's not forget illegal parties and gatherings and the BLM and numpty anti-mask gatherings.

What. like dentists?. Sorry but I know of NHS staff either through family or friends, they've had quite a bit of time off this year, nothing to do. As I said earlier but you may have missed it, thousands of appointments were cancelled here this year to cater for an influx of covid patients, which at it's peak, was 12.

Out of interest, what was the capacity of the Nightingale hospitals and how much of that was used.

If you look at the capacity graphs closely you can see how bad London was in the first wave, it exceeded the worst case number of patients that we have capacity for now, including the nightingale hospitals. Thankfully the rest of the country was less affected and could take some of the overflow.

Yes, I know that staff here weren't allowed to book holidays in October in anticipation of the 2nd wave, understandable. Will the number of cancellations for other treatment and the resultant deaths justify that decision, who knows?

My sister is a theatre sister.
According to a study at her hospital, gloves actually make things worse (cases going up and up) , as the wearers pay less attention to hand hygiene, thinking the glove is the cure - all (which, incidentally, is what I have also been saying for face coverings too, since they were "mandated").
