So come on, pick Boris's successor.

I suppose as we are a poorer country now, we need to be realistic. Things must change, and we can expect to be surprised from time to time.
I got a trainee jabber, we have pharmacists doing GP's work, and less-trained people than formerly, doing consultations at the surgery.
We may, if things go as planned by the train co's, get fewer or no humans in ticket offices. And on and on.

But do we need to have a dopey PM who's already been widely ridiculed for good reason. She isn't intelligent enough. It took Lavrov several seconds to floor her.

Oh THAT's where she came from.
I had a blood test in hospital. The phlebotomist was in full Niqab - that's the one without the veil.
My first thought was to ask,
"What the fek are you going to inject me with?"
... but I thought it might be better not to ask.

She missed the vein and made literally a bloody mess.
She didn't speak English apart from some standard phrases.

She wanted to try the other arem but I wouldn't let her - called for a senior or someone else.
They didn't like that at all, so it escalated a bit and the chief made her do it while he watched.
She was Sudanese.
I’ve had English ones do the same.

Ive also had fantastic coloured phlebotomists

your anecdote counts for nowt

Yes. Nowt wrong with genuine refugees, especially if they bring something here which we need. Same for the refugees from Afghanistan if they worked for us and were on our side over there.
Which ones do you think aren’t genuine?

There is a severe shortage of nurses and doctors.
Fast tracking is not ideal, but is probably better than the alternative of less nurses and doctors.
But this situation has been coming for a while now, not rocket science to have seen it on the horizon. P poor planning to allow it to get this bad though!
That's OK for those of us who have insight into how medical matters are performed. We can tell whether things are being done properly or not and insist on changes if necessary.
Rather more sad for those people who have no idea about what's going on.

Which ones do you think aren’t genuine?
The ones who sneak in on rubber dinghies, having paid their traffickers thousands to help them, and then either sit happily in a four-star hotel without proving their origin or disappear completely and enter the black market.
Not rocket science really.

Great that this Government has a plan to sort it then. Oh wait.......
Good job brexit was going to hand us back control of our borders. Oh wait.....

Come on, we can do better than this for goodness sake.

A few years back I was referred to a day clinic for tests. They started off by taking bloods. Although she was very nice, the person tasked with taking bloods couldn't get a vein. I found this quite strange as I've had bloods taken a few times over my lifetime and they've never had any issues. Eventually, after two or three attempts, she called on a more experienced colleague who got a vein first time.

The first person (the one who couldn't find a vein) was white British ...

Blinken didn't have much of a problem either. He even pointed out how much experience he has. Our poly's in many respects are talking heads.

Both Labrov and Blinken made me wonder about how our oountry is represented. They are both effectively diplomats.

Covid, another aspect. BBC thought that listening to the mayor of new yorks brief would be interesting. Lets just say that presentation skills were several orders of magnitude better than what we get. The USA gets clips of our politicians at work in the house at times - comic relief for them. They see their political sides as having a degree of consensus. Not ours which often relates to stiring up their own rabble of followers really. LOL Then comes Trump.

The bigger question is why are we in this mess? Shouldn't need any medical insight to be treated correctly.
Care to say why you think we are where we are?
We all know the way out of it but it will take years (lives and lifetimes probably) to sort. If the powers that be want to sort it of course.

I’m surprised that Notch didn’t steam in to you like he has just done to another on this page, post #452 with:
your anecdote counts for nowt
But then anecdotes and articles from the "Daily Wail" are perfectly acceptable to Notch if they fit his narrative.

Sunak is now playing a slightly different tune - mentioning vat cuts. I thought that would crop up at some point as it's relatively easy to predict results in changes in revenue.

His idea to cut VAT on energy prices was a more savvy political move than you make it sound. Energy prices are going to be a huge issue this winter and people are already taking notice of changes to their bill.
I'm not sure it'll make much difference though. The people who cast votes in this game aren't so badly affected.

Which ones do you think aren’t genuine?
The ones who ditch their ID just before the Border Farce pick them up.
Why would a genuine refugee do that if they have nothing to hide?

The bigger question is why are we in this mess? Shouldn't need any medical insight to be treated correctly.
Apparently, following the Covid outbreak many doctors decided to either take early retirement or leave the profession and many of those who remain decided to work part time. Why? I don't know.
