Socialism

Land value Tax.

Good in theory, great in theory even.

In practice very very difficult to make a manifesto winner in this country.

You would need to reverse many many decades of people buying an asset. And change the property is used as a personal and business investment.

It might happen if a whole generation or 2 get trapped in high price renting, then the appetite for LVT might make enough followers for politicians to try.

Cash is not a problem. Not declaring it is.

If you are stupid enough to spend most of the year taking cash and living an ostentatious lifestyle, you deserve everything you get.

The temptation to push a little in and out without touching the sides is pretty big.. I'm not saying big business is any different.

A client of mine recently got sued because they committed to charge expenses as cost, in fact they were charging them at list and getting a kick back from the travel company.. It all added up - Hotel £150 a night - £80 kick-back.

Social housing is a linked but separate issue. In the third world many people were seen as un- bankable (major banks really did not want to provide services to the poor) so the creation of small microfinance orgs and community banks focused on the local population let people pool money together and lend to each other to say buy a small sowing machine and then through small investments be able to raise their incomes.

The same principle can be used in the UK at a small local level to create opportunities for those who just need some help to get back into working or develop an idea.
We are rapidly creating a generation, many of whom are happy to sit around doing nothing, expecting the Earth from life and govt

If minimum wage is same as benefit thresholds, isn't there a problem?

Who on here is saying they are encouraging people to get money without earning? Unless unable (temporary or permanent) of course.

And how does your reply challenge a middle ground party? Are you happy seeing us lurch to the far right, or change and go extreme left?
My idea of "fair" differs from yours
