Sockets going live

Not something I've ever come across... can main bonding conductors also be used as circuit earths?
Not really possible - but the CPC can be used as a bonding conductor.

The conductor is now the CPC and also being used for bonding.

Assuming everything is correctly done and sized.

...but an earth isn't being used as a neutral; it is being used as a bond - which is allowed.

Again, your opinion.

It's a fact. Your suggesting less division of circuits, not only is it less safe, it's contrary to the regs. Do you have any electrical qualifications winston?

AMIEE, and you?

There is nothing in the regs to say a garage has to have its own CU. In many cases, including this one, it is not necessary.

FWIW, i think the garage in question requies rewiring from start to finish !

P.S. by an electrician :D

You could have just said no.

In the majority of cases it is a better design to have a consumer unit in a garage. To repeatedly bleat on about it not being required on every garage post we see on here is just wrong, and on the odd occasion where it may be the best design, no one will take any notice of the boy who cried wolf anyway.

 …….. ye ye…….. tooo expensive for you to by !!!
