Here a couple of pics I took of things I discovered today at work (I know how much you all love pics).
Now I am no Electrician, far from it, but its clear to me the serious, and dangerous, faults with this. The back box pictured was buried in 3/4" of plaster with no trace that it existed until we stripped the plaster off the wall.
Furthermore the wall (and plaster) were soaking from a problem with the external wall above. The plug was used for a fan for a heater and a dishwater, the screw for the neutral wires inside had been overtightened and had snapped.
