advice pls.if the sockets upstairs are already protected by rcd at cu.then can you plug your whirlpool straight in to the socket.or would you still put extra protection on to this circuit.also when instructions say you need to have a 5a fused spur could you there for spur onto your lighting cicuit which has a 5a breaker at cu.or is there something im totally missing ps the 5a fused spur is not for the whirlpool.thanks

If the manufacturer states that it must be fed from a DP switched FCU with 3mm gap then that is the way it must be installed. What is the 5A fused spur for? It isn't a great idea taking a 5A supply from a lighting circuit without assessing what other loading there is on it.

the 5a fused spur is for a pump . for a shower.so would you only hook this up to a 32 breaker circuit on socket ring.and if the whirlpool dont specify double pole.then could you be able to plug straight into mains, sorry if i dont make much sense

If the pump requires 5 amps what would be left to feed the lights?

Feed the pump from a Fused Connection Unit with a 5amp fuse. Connect this off a outlet on the ring main.
