Sounder Battery

You are absolutely correct but that is not a very helpful comment.

However, I did install this alarm when I built the house fifteen years ago and it has been working just fine until recently when, I set the RKP and the external sounder started to make the 'noise.' Assuming it was a battery issue, they have both been replaced but still the noise is present when the mains is on. But not when the panel is powered by the battery.

It is either something fundamentally simple or perhaps the panel has developed an electronic fault and needs replacing. Which is easier said than done because it is housed in a kinda 'cubby hole' and the current larger panels will not fit.

Theirs is no difference whether it’s powered by battery or mains ….unless there is something else connected to,that mains supply ..that only runs off 240 volts …

That is my thought also, so my non-technical conclusion is that it would be best to buy a replacement panel. Have found a new, albeit from that era panel at a price that is certainly less than engaging an engineer who may tell me, you need a new panel.

I would spend the money on someone who knows what they are doing and can fault find in a logical process …. as I think you will end up going round in circles …

A new, replacement sounder did not cure the issue so I have bought another, albeit old(ish) stock but new panel and will fit in due course.

Will post he result when installed.
