Hi all - I'm planning on building a frame for a retractable outdoor roman blind like pictured. However when it's shown you get these long turnbuckles which render this portion of the cable useless for the blind as it can't slide over them. Does anyone know of an alternative fixing or method to a turnbuckle which would save space?

Thanks!

Make the wire rope up, as close to the size needed as possible. Attach it to the timber using an eye bolt/threaded eye, which you tighten the nut to apply the tension.

Can you put any eye on the joist, take the wire 90deg through this eye, and then have the turnbuckle under the joist.
Or rather than 90deg, double back the wire (180deg) and put the turnbuckle on the doublebacked length.

eye bolts as above
or the obvious first panel off shielding is fixed to the start timber the turnbuckle is fixed to with the second fold eyelets the outer end off the turnbuckle so when fully open no gap and when closed all folded onto the inner end off the turnbuckle
