Hi all, fantastic site, i'm just having a bit of trouble getting to grips with the technical jargon :( Would very much appreciate it if someone could explain the abbreviations ie MCB,DP,CU and all the others, thanx

Also, have you noticed we use a lot of greek symbols in our calculations,
that`s so we can charge more on our invoices.

Another ploy is to use regs wioth very long numbers such as reg no 471 - 16 -01 and give the custmer the regs book and when he eventually finds that reg he reads it two or three times and thinks "Oh yes must have an RCD fitted, Oh this electrician knows his stuff"

Its a bit like this American way of doing/saying thats`s crept in,
in all our old films, dad would come home and say "there`s been trouble at t`mill" (strange how often they had trouble at t`mill innit?) and we`d all instinctively have some grasp about what they might be about to explain.

now Americans would say " Be advised, at this time we have a situation" What the heck is that all about?
Can`t see me old great gradad comming out with that
