Speaka da English?

don't be silly.

Agreeing with what he said, and then being told that he didn't mean what he said.

If you want to discuss the merits of migrants to other countries learning a language, by all means start your own thread.

As previously stated/ignored this thread is about the UK.

I'm sorry if the semantics/pedantics of the words in the first post confused you.

Be reasonable Woody. All I did was agree with what you said.

As my original reply baffled at least one, I shall explain.

"Here we go" meant another post moaning about muslims.
Yes, it was - on the same day Cameron announces the same.

"Hardly anyone in the rest of the world speaks English and a few here don't" sarcastically meant that a huge proportion of the world already speak English without which you would probably be lost when travelling abroad, so what difference does it make if a few residents don't speak English.

"You would be better spending your time trying to stop harassment and prosecution of homosexuals like HERE " was just me trying to be humourous. I obviously failed.

It does seem a bit rich moaning about foreign people coming to the UK and their inability to speak the language, when us Brits point blank refuse to speak anything else other than our native tongue.

Hands up how many people know of a friend or relative that has moved abroad, to a non-English speaking country and can speak the native tongue?

My son lives in Spain and is 100% fluent in their language.

That's a bit one-sided init?
I know a couple of people who moved to Germany and speak excellent German. Obviously their children have grown up speaking German.
But I know more people who have moved to France and do not speak such good French or none at all.

Yes,

Here we go.....

Yet another post inferring the OP is having an indirect go at Muslims.
It was Cameron that singled them out wasn't it? There are plenty of other immigrants here who don't speak the lingo.
