I was wondering if anyone has built their own spot welder. I've salvaged a transformer from an old MW oven and looking for pointers. Thanks

Just guessing Stuart but you'll need somewhere in the region of 150A for success here - and a spot welder needs to force the join closed by pressure from the electrode tips before the current is applied.
Professional machines have a timer incorporated too which assesses the thickness of the metal before firing.
John :)
