Ssssssshhhhhh, don't mention Reform.

Reform say they “would leave ECHR” but that is not a true statement

Reform could say: “we would try to leave the ECHR but no guarantee it would be achievable” that is a true statement.

Intelligent people can see the difference, so Reform voters won’t appreciate the difference.
what do you think the effect of repealing/replacing the Human Rights Act would be on ECHR?
How do the treaties you refer stand, if the UK is ejected from the ECHR?

yes

Pushbacks are illegal on vulnerable unseaworthy inflatable boats overloaded with people

See UNCLOS A98.

it is a settled matter
only in your sawdust filled head.

of course anyone with a working knowledge knows that you cannot define a vessel in distress based on how sh*t it is or how many people are on board. There are of course other laws which require commercial vessels to be seaworthy.

Reluctance to leave the ECHR is all to do with mess it would make politically, as the UK'S HR Act is robust and will continue to robustly protect individuals. That's why it's pointless leaving. No one wants the blowback.

what protections do you have now, that you didn't have before?

If it was possible, the effect on replacing the ECHR with a UK only human rights act leaves Uk citizens without international court oversight as protection against a right wing populist govt like Reform overreaching their executive powers

what is happening in USA is a good example

the important question is what protections would be lost if we left the ECHR

the 2 European countries which are not in the ECHR both have serious human rights abuses

It is no coincidence that Nigel Farage is a supporter of Putin and wants UK to leave ECHR.

I wonder if I should forcibly rescue this guy.

Can you think of a ruling that the ECHR made, which overturned the most supreme courts of the UK, that was appropriate and correct?

How will the protections you have today be protected if a future "rogue" government decided to infringe them? Do you think the ECHR police would come to your rescue?

can you think why a British government would want to leave the ECHR and join Russia and Belarus?

odd how Farage wants to leave the ECHR and is highly supportive of Putin.
