Hi all, I have yet another query.

I am opening up a wall to make a opening and using a steel ub which is 102mm x 178mm x 2000m long.
I would like to know when I remove my internal wall which the joists are resting, would it be ok to take the opening up to the joists and sit the joists into the steel ub so that I can have a level ceiling straight through to my extension?
Then the pack the wall above as normal.

Yes, if you can physically fit it in. Sometimes joists directly into the web or by bolting a timber in the web to carry joist hangers.
