whilst driving tonight i noticed what can only be described as a hollow type noise coming from the rear drivers side ? never really took much notice of it before but could this be summut to worry about or shall i just turn up the cd and ignore ? any ideas ? shock gone or spring gone ? wheel bearing ? anyone ? cheers.

Wheel bearing possibly - or a soft tyre, might help if we knew what car it was.

sorry, a focus st170 04 reg.defo not a soft tyre, its only a few weeks old, complete new set all round recently.

A broken rear coil spring will make the car sit down on that side - I doubt if it would contribute to any noise though.
Shock absorber? Check to see if there is any visible oil on the outside.
Wheel bearing? The noise will be noisier on cornering in one particular direction, and quieter on the other.
Are you sure the noise is from the rear?
If the noise manifests itself on a bumpy road, consider the rear axle mountings to be worn.
John :)

Exhaust mount? anti roll bar bush?

You'll have to have a look, hopefully its an easy fix
