Strap Ons!

Hi all,

Tried connecting a strap on boss to a 110mm soil pipe yesterday...

I cut the hole to the right size (just bigger than the lip on the inside of the boss).

I stripped away any paint on the soil pipe so it was a clean surface.

I glued the boss and the pipe then secured the strap.

But after 15 mins the boss was still loose. I tried reglueing it and left it for 20 mins and still wasnt sticking...?

I ended up using clear dow corning silicone which did the trick, but can anyone suggest why the two didn't bond?

"next time" being when he gets a recall to the leaking stack, a week on tuesday if it lasts that long

Ive never had a problem using solvent cement for strap on bosses.
I expect your soil stack isnt made of upvc
Was it asbestos?

How can it be loose, if he screwed the nut and bolt tight, or zipped the 2 straps together.

was thinking the same thing. thats the whole point of the strap
