It's also what every Conservative voter wants.
 
When I first started in streetlighting 12 years ago in the summertime when there wasn't many fault repairs coming in we used to get sent out to drive round looking for "dayburners" and make a list of all the columns we repaired.

The latest idea to replace the photocell control is the "Node" the look like a little antenna on the column and are controlled via radio signal so the local authority can turn each light on and off and times they decide via the computer in the office or onsite using a laptop/tablet.

They seem popular in my local area on all new street lights which in their 'wisdom' Leeds city council switch off between midnight and 5am. :rolleyes:
