Street Party Madness

those under 45 outside big cities really don't have much risk. Its the OAPs that need to social distance. Its not smart to have a street party like those shown, but the risks for the young is really quite low.

but the risks for the young is really quite low.
I guess the difficulty is that the young must also social distance in order to maintain an R value below one.

Hence why Seoul has shut down nightclubs after 18 new infections were caused by spreading them.

strawman argument

if govt had done much earlier lockdown, test and trace, isolation of all incoming travellers then the UK wouldnt be in the position of the worst death rate in Europe.
"""Bolox if only nonsense""" argument....no one would have took any notice earlier....first week in March...85UK cases ..lets lockdown the country....do not be absurd all your life Notchy.....Have a day off.

Distancing from the vulnerable is really the issue.

Italy went into lockdown in the Lombardy region in Feb and nationwide a little later because around 6 thousand cases had been reported and a couple of hundred dead. We were lucky in the UK, we could see what was going on in China and Italy and were forewarned... but our gov still waited until 23rd March which is a fairly long time for the virus to spread.. Perhaps had the UK acted quicker and the rules & police stricter, we could've saved quite a few lives.

Had Boris acted and the numbers infected & deaths low then am pretty sure Boris would've been praised for saving so many lives - we can see what happened in France, Italy and Spain.. Had it all be contained well then perhaps the disturbance and economic cost may have been shorter because it would've been over quicker.

It most certainly is - and I hope everyone on here is managing to keep safe - and sane!

Although NZ has a far smaller population, I can't help but think many more lives would've been saved in the UK if we'd approached this the same way and the general public took it a bit more seriously.. Mad dogs and Englishmen out in the midday sun for sure. A bit of sunshine and we're off doing the conga..!

My young Aussie mate called me tonight. He's training to be a doctor in Cyprus. He called to say he's flying to Luton on Saturday he's brother also a Doctor is coming from York to pick him up. He'll study online from York until the University opens.

I find it strange that he can do this even now.

I found it strange Cheltenham was allowed to happen.

I found strange 3000 Atlético Madrid fans where allowed to travel to Liverpool.

I wanted flights from China stopped then from Italy.

I wanted all foreigners band from entering the UK.

Yes, the UK were very lax on the uptake and still are getting so much wrong :-(

I wanted all foreigners stopped from entering the UK.

But then again I would....
I've wanted the end of free movement of people.
I want controlled immigration from around the world.
Mainly because I think this country is packed amongst other reasons.

Now all those opposing my views say we should have shut the borders and immigrants are dying because they live in cramped conditions with other extended or familys.

How good will the conditions be for these fruit pickers we are flying in.. (I'll add I've never had a problem with seasonal workers) their conditions have never been good.

Yes our government have got it massively wrong.
