Firstly thanks for the replies to my previous questions. I am now wiring in a pull cord operated striplight which according to the wiring instructions is OK for use in zone 3 in the bathroom. It is however double earthed and the instructions state that any earth wire should be cut back and not connected. Does this still need to be bonded and if so how do I achieve this without an earth terminal inside the unit? :?:

DO NOT CUT THE EARTH WIRE BACK.

Grossly irresponsible of them to advise that - just because their light is double insulated it doesn't mean that all future ones will be. Sleeve it and make the end safe with choc-block.

The light fitting does not need bonding, but the earth wire in the lighting circuit does, at some convenient point, not necessarily at the light.
