subaru fuel pump

Subaru imperza turbo 2000, keeps loosing power & sometimes cutting out. Will start sometimes straight away, sometimes after 4-5 mins.
Diagnostic work said ... new fuel pump needed. & mechanic said £200 + vat
Q1, what does a mechanic (sheff area) approx charge an hour ?
Q2, do u think the diagnostic's sound right ??? what else could be up...anything cheaper ??

Thanks for the answer...even tho i know they cost approx this, it cost £215 in the end, which i wasnt pleased about at all. It just seems a total rip off when the parts even £70+ & £50 for diagnostics...theres still alot of surplus cash left over. & it took him 3 days to do, cos the part hadnt come on time.....**** take from start to finish. Certainly wont be going back that for sure. I blame the boyfriend too.... i'd av asked for some money off cos he'd had the car so long....even if he may have still charged me the same, at least id have known id asked...bloody wimp he is. Yeah,yeah nagging missus...lol

i have seen that the price for subaru fuel pump ranges to $80 - $84. and the subaru repair i have seen it cost much higher.
