I thought he did fairly well..
Pretty straight answers, logical, dealt with Robinson talking over him and asking silly questions.
He even covered what he said in the much replayed clip along the lines of "Taking money from the poor to give it to Tunbridle Wells".

Truss has been asked to do half an hour but so far hasn't answered. I would expect she'd be taken apart. Questions like "How does cutting taxes for all, help the very poorest who don't pay any tax?".

I wish both of them would say what they'd do to make the county better off, rather than what straws they prefer to grasp at as we slide down.

Get lost. These are the people who have got us into our present mess; why would anyone want to re-elect them?

Take the Sri Lanka option.

would you really want to swim in Boris's pool ?

I think we could do a lot worse than Rishi, not my original choice, a bit out of touch with the average bloke, but if he worked for SacksOfGold then he will understand money, and we need someone like that.

We certainly don't want that utter clown truss (who according to sturgeon looks like shes swallowed a wasp!) Nicola always hits the nail on the head

johnson is worse

and the idiot truss is appealing to his supporters

the tory membership is mostly old thatcherites and like tax cuts that benefit the better off. nobody else gets to vote on who will take over the vacant position as "leader" of our country.

they aren't concerned about national debt if they don't expect to be here long enough to get stuck with the bill.

this country is now in a perhaps 15 or 20 year debt cycle before we will get any reasonable growth
we have had around 10 years off oppressing the poorest in society and now when the poop hits the fan tax cuts to appease the middle Tory ground whilst hard-working people are using food banks and choosing reduced heat or food is a disgrace
the quicker people realize those in charge are on a different planet rather than simply out off touch the better chance we have off people realizing this is a disaster off a magnitude effecting some to a disaster level if not now within a few weeks but definately within 6 months where deaths and disaster will happen to some without urgent acction

I don't think we have any option but to increase borrowing, to get through the worst effects of fuel/food price increases/war.
Otherwise people will starve. If it's a one-off, it's not overwhelming.

Debt vs GDP - a couple of screens down, see the yellow column showing the covid spending effect

How the debt had changed with governments https://fullfact.org/economy/labour-and-conservative-records-national-debt/

This is what we spend https://www.statista.com/statistics/298524/government-spending-in-the-uk/

HMG is/will hand(ing) out 10's of £bn in cost of living help. Half a covid, say. (About the same as the energy industries profits add up to) Trouble is, there isn't a vaccine for expensive oil and food.

Inflation past and predicted: https://www.statista.com/statistics/374890/rpi-rate-forecast-uk/
which I'd bet is very optimistic post 2022,

Labour would like Sunak to win, so that they can present him as an out of touch multi-millionaire. He's unlikely to win for this reason.
I know nothing about Truss, but suspect like May, she doesn't have enough charisma to pull off a strong majority like BJ did.

The problem with the Tories is always the infighting. Determined to snatch defeat from victory. Labour's problems are the currently silenced extreme left who don't represent the values of most Labour voters.

We have no real choice.

Interesting assumption about Labour MPs and members. Is this from some sort of poll among Labour members, or just your assumption?
I wouldn't have thought you were the kind of person to be 'in touch' with Labour members' sentiments. So the 'multi-millionaire' status is not the only tangible characteristic of being 'out of touch'.

Interesting that you are already explaining away RS's failure to win. ;)

Plenty of champagne socialists in labour too.

The reality is that those who would do a good job aren’t in politics and those that are, rarely have the attitude, motivation or skill to be good.

I don’t think I’ve ever met a local councillor or magistrate with the skill they need.

So you want a PM that says whatever they feel will achieve their aims irrespective of fact?

You also seem to have forgotten what most of BJ's pull was that got their majority - get Brexit done. The finally of the Brexit political gravy train.

The problem with the Tories is always the infighting.
Of late yes but long term no other than when some one has to go MrsT for instance. Just why has there been a change?

Labour's problems are the currently silenced extreme left who don't represent the values of most Labour voters.
Just what is it that you fear from these extreme lefties?

That's why they have officers to assist and advise.

Extremes of any persuasion are worrying.
The problem is that the middle ground constantly changes, exerting an effect on what is mildly left or right, far left or right, and what is extreme.
And of course, many use the label of right and left as accusations of extremism, when in all probability it's not extreme in the least. But call it extreme enough times and the label sticks.
