Supp bonding

Hi

Quick question.

I believe that the regs regarding supp bonding in a kitchen were changed as they found it to be more dangerous when supp bonded. Can anyone explain why this is? And why doesn't it make a bathroom installtion dangerous? Many thanks.

Yes, I have a brown copy, amended June 1987.

Within the zone formed by the main equipotential bonding, local supplementary bonding connections shall be made to metal parts, to maintain the equipotential zone, where those parts:

(i) are extraneous conductive parts (see definition), and

(ii) are simultaneously accessible with exposed conductive parts or other extraneous conductive parts, and

(iii) are not electrically connected to the main equipotential bonding by permanent and reliable metal to metal joints of negligible impedence.

Note: Where local equipotential bonding is provided in accordance with regulation 413-7, metalwork which may be required to be bonded includes baths and exposed metal pipes, sinks taps tanks and radiators and, where practicable, accessible structural metalwork.

I'd have been 3 when the 15th edition was introduced and 13 when they were binned.

Is this true?
