It is of course a blatant, baseless, false allegation.
He knows it, and I know it.

I invite him to find a slither of evidence to support his allegation.

To get to the UK with your family you need money. Most of the people fleeing Syria are wealthy middle classes, professionals with large houses, kids in private schools, all the mod cons etc. They flee for their lives, to give their children the chance of a safer future. But it means walking away from everything they have. Put yourself in their shoes for a moment. You don't walk away from everything you have built and put your family on an inflatable raft for fun, or to commit crime overseas.

Are you sure? Claiming asylum is a human right. Around 1 in 3 are granted asylum, which seems by definition would make them asylum seekers. If the government is killing all those around you then I am pretty sure you qualify to asylum or refugee status.
Economic migrants do not risk their children's lives.

None of the people arriving in the UK have any of the rights to work, get accommodation, use NHS etc. that the tabloids keep saying they do.

A tiny percentage make the journey to the UK, and only because they already have family here, or speak English and not French, German, Spanish, Italian etc.

Anyone can claim asylum in any country they chose. It's a myth that they have to seek asylum in the first country they land in afaik.

It's irrelevant in terms of the law, you have to be the target of persecution, otherwise it not a legit asylum claim. Of course one may not like that stance.

Oh yes, when will they be going back to bring the women, children, old people, cat, dog? Vast majority of people in Europe and trying to sneak into UK illegally are young men.
