i've bought a 22mm surrey flange to combat the air in the shower pipework restricting the flow, unfortunately now the flange has arrived it has a 22mm male thread at the base, but my hot water tank also has a male thread. i'm guessing i'm not the first person to have had this problem, is there an adapter for this?

cheers
Phil

It'll be a ¾" thread, you could get a ¾ socket to adapt or you could return the Surrey flange and buy a York flange, which will have a female threaded connection on the base

Ok, so some further assistance is required please! The surrey flange i ordered arrived, but the thread detail isnt what i was expecting

the water outlet for the shower is 22mm but what screws into it? also the top thread for the air vent and house feed is 3/4" but again, what screws into it? is it some kind of threaded fitting with a large tap washer? ive never seen a blind thread like this before, sorry for being a numpty

The threads in the fitting will probably be 3/4" BSP to accept 22mm to 3/4" BSP adapters. It is called a 3/4" thread, despite being over an inch diameter, because that's the thread diameter used on the outside of a 3/4" bore pipe.

There might be one adapter screwed into a female boss in the top of your cylinder already.

Compression fittings tend to use BSP threads for the nuts securing their olives, so MI adaptors look very similar to compression fittings minus one nut and olive.

The significant difference is the flat face behind the thread for a fibre sealing washer.
