Swapping out an LED spotlight for a pendant

OK, to clarify, I understood that I was meant to start from the bottom of the page and work up but I didn't (and still don't) understand how that applies to my situation.
If your wiring isn't like that then all you have to do is connect the wires to the new light to the same connections as your present light.
I've just bought one of these to enable me to safely join the two incoming cables to the pendant.
