Were they legal?

Does Putin have a point in saying that we did not wait for independent inspectors before striking?

The UN team arrived today to start their investigation.

As to the legality - Corbyn has asked May to publish the advice. To be honest you can always find a legal opinion to justify the legality.

The strikes served their purpose- great for PR, overall effect not much. It's a nice distraction.

Shoot first and ask questions later, trial by social media , Jim Mattis the USA defence dept said they weren't sure whether Assad was guilty or not.

French said they had irrefutable evidence that he used chemical weapons . this is 9th time he has done so ???

unless we take the Russian view that it was british special forces who were responsible for the latest attack

Syria is a conflict with no possible good solutions and no good outcomes.

The best that can be achieved is the best worst option.

Im not really sure gesture bombing is any solution.

If chemical weapons facilities have genuinely been removed from operation then maybe thats a positive.

However Assad was at the point of regaining control, (maybe the chlorine attack was the final push) so I would think it best that hasnt changed and the war ends.

Having Assad back in control is hardly anything to celebrate, but extending the war will only mean more civilian deaths.

The problem is they don't show their evidence, they said the same about WMD's in Iraq.
The French said chlorine was used, Chlorine is easily obtainable millions of tons are produced every year.
the fact that they only showed dead children is suspicious as repeatedly showing pictures of dead children is a classic propaganda technique.
Could of been the rebels themselves who have shown a complete disregard for the welfare of the people they use as human shields.

The Russians were told/ warned of the imminent attack ;)

At the end of the day chemical weapons were banned from use in a treaty signed in Paris. hence why the French have taken a strong stance on the caper ? (may be?)

But Assad is supposedly the leader of Syria he is the president his government sit at the UN , occupy there embassys around the world

The rebels are well rebels.

Chlorine gas can be manufactured in your own house !!!!! 2 X ingredients ;) delivering it in an attack is a different matter

It can also be bought commercially in highly concentrated form but that doesn't mean Assad innocent it is just a bit strange that at this point in the conflict he would do something so counter productive, apparently before this attack had took place a truce had been arranged the rebels and their supporters had agreed to leave the city along with rebel prisoners who were also released.

because he thought no one would do any thing , he has Russian support a large russian military presence

and incidentally the French were never involved in the last Iraq war/ invasion , they never bought into the weapons of mass destruction ;)

may be assad did not know , rouge elements in the government ???

french Have stated that they have irrefutable evidence of a chemical attack by Assad ? They also said that they would take military action on there own if needs be .

Macron is not some war monger or fruit cake

its a load of bollocs, it was not assad, it most prob, the rebels, or it was a fake. assad wining the civil war, why would he jeopardise it. he has had Russian military support.

Never mind that it was pointless, PM's usually want to drop a bomb or two to be seen to 'be tough' - it's in their nature!
They also feel the need to confirm that they (we) are uncle sam's poodle from time to time.
Mayhem is just the latest one on the list!

It seems to becoming a bit of a tradition for British PM's to bomb Arabs, first there was Blair and Iraq, then Camoron and Libya and now May bombs Syria.
My uncle was in the army in Palestine before WW2 trouble then and still trouble there today, I think western meddling in the M.E. only makes things worse for everyone including Europe, if the west and their allies had not backed these Islamic rebels in the first place would we have had these floods of refugees entering Europe.

chlorine gas is an evil way to kill people not to mention a war crime. As I understand it, it mixes with water in your eyes and lungs to form hydrochloric acid.

The strike does seem to be the minimum use of force, with high end ordinance to minimise casualties.

Let’s see if Russia bombs the launch bases as promised.

Corbyn is against all military conflict and while I admire his desire it’s really why he’d do a terrible job if he was in the same position. Though standing by and watching does keep britain out of harms way short term.

Believe Nothing You Hear, and Only One Half That You See.

4 Tornado jets from about 30 - I bet we couldn't raise much more - Subs ? Half of them are aground or about to become so - mind you a target of 1 at sea out of 4 doesn't leave much room for manoeuvre...

Funny old game, richest country in Euroville - busy knocking out V3's (VW's) and pocketing the euros whilst we posture on the world stage under Donald Duck chucking half good money after bad - If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.
