It seems to be the 10 year 'itch' with my power tools!

My Table Saw just suddenly died on me.

No cut out or thermal overload, just stopped running.

Model is a Titan SF10N1 - not the greatest machine around but it did what I wanted it to do.

Any ideas as to helping me diagnose the problem would be welcome.

Same as brushes?

If so no I haven't.

Would this cause a sudden failure, as previously when these have gone on drills etc I've noticed a 'burning' smell/sparking.

Yes I meant brushes. I like bushes though. :p

If it splutters and sparks then it is the windings that have gone. Worn brushes will often cause a tool to die instantly.

dying is good if no noises smells or sparks
as it says a break in the power circuit
have you tried it in another socket and something in that socket??
have you tried the fuse in the plug ??

I tried all of the above.

I've just tested it again just in case there was a thermal cut out for whatever reason, but still the same.

Is there an internal fuse in these machines?

After an afternoon spent dismantling the machine, it turned out to be a build-up of sawdust under the brushes!

Thanks for the replies.

Look after them brushes, apparently Titan dont sell replacements!!
I noticed that they were quite worn when I cleaned them, but I've managed to find a set on ebay for when I need to replace them - a £4 'insurance policy'!

And thanks big-all
