Tado installation help

I am attempting to self install my Tado thermostat. Having removed the cover on my existing Potterton termostat I am presented with the following (see attached screenshot). The Tado guide says label the wires and connect wire 2, 1 and 4. On my unit I have no wire in terminal 1. Any help would be welcomed. Thanks

There should be a diagram inside the lid of the old Potterton thermostat something like below.

If your Potterton is like the above, then:

4 = Neutral (Blue)
2 = Live (Red)
3 = Switched Live (Yellow)

You don't give details of the Tado thermostat wiring, but the Tado instructions will identify its connections for you. If it's like the one below, then in your case:

The red wire (Live) goes in COM
The yellow wire (Switched Live) goes in NO

The blue wire Neutral isn't used and is isolated and kept out of the way.

If your model of Tado is different, post back its wiring details.
