Hi All

I was looking to change my Potterton EP2 over to the Tado Smart Wireless V3 controller. I was hoping someone might be able to help me witn the wiring?

From the Tado diagram (attached), it seems I need to add connectors between Live & CH COM & HW COM.

I have attached a picture of my current EP2 setup, which are labelled L, N, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and also a picture of the corresponding diagram on the back of the unit.

Is anyone able to guide me which wires should go into which areas on the new Tado controller?

Thanks if you can!

Wasn't sure whether this was better suited to this area, or Plumbing & CH...

Doesn’t matter so much which forum, usually gets answered from either. The green/yellow (terminal 1) should be sleeved/identified as live (brown).

Yes, you need to add a link to both commons from live, the existing loop to terminal 5 in your EP2 should do, just cut it to suit.

Then it’s just transferring the wires over:

L to L
N to N
1 to HW NC (not forgetting to sleeve/identify as Live)
3 to HW NO
4 to CH NO

I've installed it as you said (picture attached) and have installed and connected all of my Smart TRV's (including via the app). However, none of the radiators are turning on when requested via the app... I don't suppose anyone has any ideas why?!

With the old controller when I turned on the CH, I would hear the fortic tank heating and then the radiators come on. When I try and start the radiators now via the app, nothing turns on (no noise from fortic tank, radiators are cold).

Apologies, I forgot to mention, any previous thermostat should be set to maximum or bridged out. Is the hot water already satisfied?

I took the old thermostat off the wall and put wago's on (picture attached). It seems that the hot water is not on either!

No picture of Wago for previous stat. Is the hot water definitely calling? You’re also on a Y plan, so will remain in last known demand.

Apologies, see attached. The water doesn't appear to be calling, no! I've pushed the test button and I didn't hear the fortic tank heat up etc.

There’s your problem, live and switched should be joined, you’ve left it open circuit.

Brilliant, that worked - thanks very much!

My only next issue is that my towel radiator isn't working... it stopped recently. I've changed it over to the Tado TRV and it still isn't working. I've tried pressing the pin in at both sides to make sure it isn't stuck and that hasn't worked. I've also bled it and it squirts water out (when I just did it now). I'm a bit stuck on this one!

I'm not sure if you have any thoughts?

Thanks again for your help with the Tado, it's really appreciated.

No worries, glad to be of help. Does the hot water work now too? Check the lockshield valve on the other side. Any changes, such as adding a new radiator?

It does indeed (hot water). I've checked both sides and realised that the TRV side is a bit rusty and stiff. When I manually held the pin down, it heated the radiator. However, once I put the TRV back on and tried to heat it up, it isn't heating...! Perhaps the pin is too stiff for the TRV to press it in effectively?
