It seems this is a new pass time, some one walks to your front door with a parcel, steps back and takes a photo of your front door security, then walks off leaving the parcel behind, some times the parcel is even addressed to you, which means they have the address of the front door in the picture, then these photo seem to arrive on social media as a guess where the front door is quiz so anyone can study your front door security, I know you can photograph from the street, but walking up some strangers drive and taking photos is this really allowed?

Doesn't bother me I have 2 cctv cameras onto my drive and a ring doorbell. Fine provided your wearing your crime watch issue balaclava.

Everyone who passes your property can study your front door, though seems a dumb pastimes .
Thieves break in thru rear door and windows as a rule.Only dumb f*cks would tried to break in within full view of your neighbours.

There would be an implied licence until you withdraw it. Nothing stops them from taking photos of your house from the street, unless they snapped you naked, w*nking or similar, through the window. Then its voyeurism which is an offence.

Is this a wind up? It's very common. They are called 'Delivery drivers'. They haven’t got the time to keep coming back if you’re not in so the photo is to prove that they have delivered the package. I had a bit of a flap last week when I received an email containing a photo from an Amazon delivery driver showing a package containing a £100+ pair of walking trainers left at my back gate. Mrs Mottie was out so I quickly ran the cctv back and thankfully, saw that the driver had placed the package, took the photo as proof and then popped them over the gate into our garden.

The Hermes woman used to do the same but leave them in the bushes, visible from the house but not from the road. As I said, very common.

Some delivery companies take a photo immediately after handing you the package, some like amazon take the pic if its left on your doorstep. Leaving it in a designated “safe” place like behind a bin or with a neighbour are still options for many if not all firms.

Indeed...

It's called 'implied right of access', which can be withdrawn at the boundary of your property.

But as you say there is no offence of 'photography in a public place', although plod tried to enforce a non existent law a few years back suggesting it was an offence.

The guy in the rusty 20 year old escort van who delivers the same day amazon prime parcels on the occasions we use the service always takes a pic of the package in your hand. I suspect there is a lot of sub contracting of parcel deliveries and maybe this is a way of obtaining absolute proof if that's ever completely possible. One bugbear is when amazon ask for your date of birth when delivering alcohol , and in one case a craft knife. I give them any old date, and they are happy with that.

Blup

The photo of the package by the front door may be evidence that the package was delivered to the correct address, but is not evidence that the package actually remained there for the customer to receive it. There is nothing to prevent a dishonest delivery driver picking up the package again and going off with it. I believe there are some U-tube videos showing this.

And it doesn't rule out product contents having been switched...

Amazon is continuing to investigate after high-value orders were switched for cheaper products before delivery.

"Items such as cameras, watches and mobile phones were replaced with cat food, condoms and balloons, a BBC investigation has shown.

Some victims were denied refunds until the BBC put their complaints to Amazon"

And thus probably spends more in petrol than he/she earns!

I saw a mk1 Escort yesterday, while I was out getting summat for tea.

By the sound of it, it used more petrol backing out of the parking space, than I used diesel doing the 10-mile round trip to the shops :D
