Hi - just reading posts on DIYnot out of curiosity looking at Alarm section though I have a post on tiling hence on this site today.

I have a Texecom premiere elite 24W Ricochet year 2013 Version 2.04.

I was curious on a post that sounded like a private individual signing up for a cloud account with Texecom......I was not aware this was possible.

I have thought for a while it would be nice to connect my panel to the internet thinking I can turn the alarm on or off via the app and even maybe be informed of any reason for an alarm condition? I belive the app is Texecom Connect?

I think my system needs a firmware update to do this too.

I have Wintex V8.2 (recently upgraded to this following PIR replacement so that Wintex/Ricochet Monitor understood what the item was.).
I installed the system and programmed it myself. (I am a retired Electrical Engineer though I did need some help from Texecom to get the panel to trigger an external GSM dialler when the alarm is triggered). I appreciate the skills of people like yourself as these alarm systems are complicated.

I'm happy to buy the software/cable as required to update the firmware but I have a question or 2.

Do I need to factory reset the panel before updating the firmware?
Once updated can I simply download the program file using Wintex or do I need to start from scratch or do something else?

I'm only interested in doing this if I can use the app/cloud services to turn off the alarm if activated and to see what the issue is.
I have a Ricochet smart key I leave with neighbours to turn the alarm off if it is triggered but it would be nice to have remote access.

The alarm has only been triggered 3x or so since install. Twice for faulty PIR's, one ricochet the other wired. The third was due to an extended power cut that killed the panel battery I believe. All batteries have been replaced (I do it about every 5 years) though recently I also replaced the bell box's completely.

Any advice or reply is appreciated.

Kind Regards

Looking at Secureiam web site I see there are 2 options to connect to the internet.
Texecom SmartCom Wifi / LAN CEL-0001
Texecom SmartCom Pro Wifi / LAN CEN-0001

I need to google more but which wouild be best for my needs?
Can I create an accout with Texecom cloud before I get my alarm panel connected to the internet?

Delete wireless devices via zone setup
Default panel
Flash firmware
Default panel
Re learn devices
Re program panel
Add smartcom
Set up cloud account
Add panel to cloud
Set up app.

I wouldn’t use Wintex to send data back given the vast change in firmware.

Thanks for that.
I assume I can use wintex version I have to fully program the kit?
Can tyou advise which smartcom I should get.

Thanks again for any advice.

Hmm, depends on what you need.

CEL-0001 is WiFi Ethernet (currently being kept in production)
CEL-0007 is as above plus gprs built in eSIM used on Texecom tariff if you like(discontinued and replaced with Smartcom pro)

These are cheaper than the smart com pro equivalents and are currently firmware update able via cloud account.

The Smart com pro only if you need its outputs possibly or need radio /radio (gprs/gprs) which is unlikely.

Smart com pro can be placed inside modern panels allegedly, but not not older poly ones, if outside the unit you need a separate case for the unit.

You will need usb com lead/ flasher and software
From Texecom.

To be fair the official usb com lead and elite flasher pushes you close to an new elite 64-W and that would have warranties and more devices that could be added

I would look at that option too????! Might be more cost effective.

With the Texecom cloud account you can flash upgrade the smart com and the alarm panel when above version5.

Thanks for the advice its given me something to think about.
I like the idea of the 64-W and am really tempted now though my 24W is working fine.
I see unofficial flashers are cheap.

I'm up to the eyes revamping the ensuite at the moment so tempted to get com unit and cheap flasher to get it working with cloud and app but once done with ensuite upgrade to GEW-0001.

I'm on the fence....like the idea of not having to flash 24W by buying 64W and its new.

Hmm! Guess I can buy GEW-0001 & com unit, set it up on the bench (no sensors/pir's - I have a spare siren if needed....but no spare keypad to arm it - not that I want to arm it yet) and sign up for cloud and get app working. Is this doable without keypad?
As I'm busy and no time to swap panel just wondering if i can do a bench set up.....just to get cloud and app working? Just a mad idea!

Thanks again.

Well...googling I see I need flasher and cable to connect flasher to pc....typically £30 on well know auction site for them both.
I also need the flasher software I expect fromTexecom...can this be obtained without buying their flasher kit along with the latest panel firmware?

Looking at Texecom web site I can't download anything or sign up for cloud unless I'm a business it appears so I guess I cannot use the app either?
Am I missing something?

Looks like I can only use app on LAN side of router. I need a cloud account to use on WAN side to access alarm.
I'm after access from WAN side.

Second hand gear make sure seller accept returns and the gear is genuine can save you issues later.

As for the Texecom cloud I have no idea, but I am aware of several end users on their own cloud accounts some on here and some on the Texecom forum.

So maybe it’s how you fill in the form
