I've had a couple of alarms on a dual-mode Ricochet PIR, so have taken it out of use for the moment until I can find what's causing the problem.

I'd like to program this zone so that if the PIR activates when the alarm is set it will record an event but not otherwise display or set off the alarm. What's the simplest way of doing this please?

when the soak tests fails you will be advised by the panel.

the soak test timer can be adjusted the default is 14 days I believe.

Thanks!

Does the soak test only function when the alarm is set on?

Edit: Having looked at this on Wintex I think I've answered my own question. I can set the zone to 'On Test' while still on 'Guard'.

lol yes

The Zone will activate and record the activation but will not cause an alarm.

It was always recommended that when you install a new system to put it on soak test first and if it passes it just carries on as normal, if it fails you get the notification and you have to decide what next.

I took over this system not long after it was put in, so I don't know what tests were done then. I've had to make changes to the setup, following advice on here, and it's been reliable for nearly three years until these two alarms.

I now have to decide whether the dual mode detector is faulty or whether something triggered it - I suspect that's a common problem for you professional guys!

The detector is firmly mounted in a closed room with no sources of heat or vibration. There is a large friendly spider that lives in there, but I would not have thought it could trigger the microwave part of the detector even if if it walked across the front.

We'll see what the soak test throws up.
