Hi Guys,

I bought a Premier elite panel about 6 months ago, and I am planning on installing it over the Christmas break, found this site by chance while looking for info on a couple of bits.
One of the things I have just read is that the above panel is a real pain to set up through the RKP.
I will be using:
4 x Bosch blue line pet friendly tri tech pir's
3 x door contacts (might only end up using 2)
Odyssey Bell
Premier LCDP RKP
will wire the pir's as EOL

So the question is How much of a pain is it to set up through the keypad?
Am I better off buying the pc-com or usb-com cable?
Biggest problem I have is waiting for it to arrive as I live in Australia...

Thanks

Gary

its very easy to programme via keypad its just easier via laptop. Just take your time and read the manual as you go through the programming so you are aware of each options functionality. Good luck.

I would suggest you write down how you want the zones to work first.
I would then look at arming modes.
Then look at part sets.

The manual is considerable and you wont need most of it to get up and running with something

Thanks for the fast reply guys...

Hadn't thought that far ahead with the zones to be honest...
The reason I said that I might only use 2 of the door contacts, was that I wasn't sure if I could have a door contact and pir set to E/E, Most of the living areas are open plan (ish), so lounge PIR should pick you up once you are about 1 meter in through the front door in the hallway(hopefully)
we have a low set (bungalow) so really part set could be door contacts only of a night time?
Have only really started looking at it all today so not really given it a great deal of thought, but after a lot of browsing today, would you recommend having the Com-ip or the Com-wifi and are there any benefits?
shame I didn't look into this a bit more when I was buying every thing and shipping it out here..

Thanks
Gary

com-ip will be less hassle than the com wifi, as you don't have to worry about the usual wifi issues.

PIR's on e/e are not a good idea, this would mean if you were leaving via a route that had an e/e pir you would need a timed exit as an exit mode.

Open plan, are probably the hardest to get adequate cover, without over lap.

Might be worth you drawing a floor plan and working out what you want covering.

As you have pets you still need to think about the size of your pets and where they may climb (cats are probably the worst for that).
Petwise detectors no matter how good they are cant address certain issues of false alarming as cat walks along the kitchen units.

Cheers SecureIAm,
Yeah its a little dog, Shih Tzu X Poodle weighs less than 10KG, biggest problem I see with the dog, is she likes to sit on top of the sofa in the lounge which is where the PIR is facing 7-8 meters away.
That was always going to be the problem PIR... with the dog and the Front door so might have to reposition it on the other side of the room, or remove it all together.
Is over lap a problem if the PIR's are on a different zone?
I am not going to achieve total coverage with the house layout that we have, so was concentrating on the main areas:
Main Bed=PIR
Dining Room= PIR
Rear Lounge=PIR
Garage roller door= Roller door contact
Front door= Door contact
Internal door to Garage= Door Contact
Main Lounge=problem zone with E/E (see photo) that's what I meant by open plan ish... photo was taken from PIR location, sofa in background is where dog likes to climb onto, and to the right of sofa through the last hole in wall is the Front door...

I could reposition Main Lounge PIR into this corner (see pic) that big black lump in the photo is a wall speaker, would that cause a whole heap of grief to the PIR? I know it will affect overall and ultimate coverage, but would sacrifice that if I had to...

Hi guys,

Having given some thought on the lounge pir and the dog, I am now thinking of putting the pir in the hall which would mask the sofa that the dog jumps onto, and setting it up as timed e/e and doing away with door contact on front door.
Are there any major draw backs setting it up like that?

Thanks
Gary

No
What engineer is saying is
Make the door contact final exit in programming.
When the door is closed will set as soon as door closed and not at the end of 30second exit time.

Exactly.... have a PIR too as Guard access if its in the entry route area, it will also help in reminding you to turn off alarm on night set in the morning.

Ah ok,

And still set pir in hall as timed on entry?, as it will activate when front door is opened

Program Hall as Guard Access. It will be automatically omitted during entry timer when front door opens first. On part set the Hall PIR will start the entry timer in the morning.

Sorry engineer,
you did say that previously... l just didn't read it properly..
Thanks for that
