The OED has literally changed the meaning of "literally

'Access' (noun to verb) and 'aggravate' (taking on a different meaning) are two others which spring to mind.

Unlike French, our language is not dead, and doesn't need propping up and defending, as is done in France; it's just evolving.

Most DIYers on here are literally professional plumbers and can fix literally any gas boiler that uses a heat exchanger. its easy peezy! I mean literally who can't fix a boiler? :lol: its only a flippin gas burner!
 
It's true, our language is for ever evolving and the OED, along with all dictionaries, must attempt to reflect popular usage of words.

Sadly, we seem to be 'evolving downwards' as the years go by. Something to do with the government's 'dumbing down' policy, I'm sure.
