I have a load of flooring to lay, got it for a good price but didn't see the point in buying underlay until ready to do the job which will now be fairly soon.

Does anyone have any recommendations? It is going over level floorboards on the ground floor.
Thickness is an issue. I don't want to be raising the floor level more than is absolutely necessary and I need to know what the new floor level is going to be. Work has started on a conservatory which will have the same flooring. I'd like have the floor the same level as the rest of the house but until I know the thickness of underlay I'm not sure if there will be enough clearance beneath the existing french windows.
