think ive got problems with my laptop

hi peeps wonder if any one can give me some guidance?
problems
1:every time i run spybot the laptop shuts down

2:every time i run disk clean up it hangs and shuts down

i have just ran chk disk and that works ok
im running f secure anti virus and that works ok

any help muchly received.

hi there usually laptops suffer from over heating due to dust being sucked up into the heat sink and blocking the vents causing the laptop to shut down. if you hav,nt got a temperature monitor in the bios down load one from net to see how hot the cpu is getting . sounds like when you run cpu hungry programs its getting hot . look under the laptop to see if there is an air intake vent shine torch in it see if you can see lots fluff. most laptops are very poorly designed with air intake vents underneath. anyway good luck

Try the same in Safe Mode - does it still shut down?

ive just managed to do a complete scan using spybot,but i had it on its side by the back door with the wind coming in and hey presto it didnt shut down so when i get a few spare minutes i will follow suffolklads advice and give the fan a bloody good clean.
