Thorn Boiler m30/42B

3rd degree dont think so .Do you not want to back up your corgi ticket story then.
How do you know what the guy is qualified to do majority of the public refer to anyone to do with heating as plumbers.

back up what ??? cost me a couple hundred quid a year to stay legal, whats the problem with that?? few LL's covered the cost. Is that ok with you? I'm sorry that my private work from years ago is such a big concern of yours!

Just wondering why someone would be that concerned about staying legal when it was a sackable offense to do privates so obviously doesnt bother about rules and regs

There is a difference between him doing jobs on the side and someone not knowing what they are doing mate, yes they both still maybe illegal in the eyes of the HSE but only one of them is likely to end up with safety issues. (assuming the forementioned "plumber friend" didn't know what they were doin).
It does also start alarm bells ringing that they are asking for a boiler diagram for a very simple appliance................No??

well wonder all you want, you asked the question I answered it.
Anyway, bit of a joke really talking about private work being a sackable offence. In theory yes, but if they actually actioned it they would have to sack about 80%(thats a guess of course before you start picking) of the work force so thats a pretty ridiculous thing to say. My manager I had for 6 of my 7 years at BG was also very laid back and aware of my corgi and my private work, but wasn't bothered as long as it didn't interfere with my BG work. It was he who gave me the heads up on the checks so I didn't bother renewing, and at the time I wasn't doing any PJ's anyway cos I was a TSM and that took up enough of my time. Anyway, I don't know why I have to explain myself to you, but then you seem so interested to know about me. If you want I can send you a picture

I wouldn't waste your time explaining the obvious concerns to namsag, he's obviously got other things to worry about now.
winning an argument 1st
public safety 2nd

Robbo and thats the point you don`t know what the guy is qualified to do .
And its the husband after the drawing to order the part not the guy attending to it.
Micky no need for a picture not at this time of night anyways, TSM after what 5 ish years did no one else want it .We had the same prob on our patch
No need to sack 80 percent couple of sackings and word soon gets around

TSM after what 5 ish years did no one else want it .We had the same prob on our patch

Actually it was when the TSM role was first created, and 19 people applied for 3 positions. and at 23 I was the youngest TSM in the UK.
Maybe you applied and failed and thats why your bitter?

yeh I know its not true, i'm not stupid, but i can make things up to sound good as well :D

But why would you ask someone to order a part for a job that you were going to do?? especially if you knew what you were doing? even more so when the cust doesn't have a scoobie what they are ordering. First time on this forum tonight but I reckon some folk are just on here to give people the wind up.........................I will mention no names of course.

Not doubting that you know what you are talking about, just strange you can't see where we are coming from?

Ah well it takes all sorts

Robbo you will find that after rogue traders and such programmes a lot of people will order there own parts to try and save money which as we all know does not always work

Mickyg why would i want to be a TSM all it is ,is a glorified gopher and whippin boy

did you actually read what I wrote?
As I said, I didn't expect you applied for the job, I was just doing what you do, and just making stuff up. Also, like I said, when I took the TSM role it was when it was first created, previously it was a technicians role. Which is what I actually wanted. No one really knew what to expect, which is why plenty of people applied. I quit before the end of my secondment, because it was more management then actually helping people out with problems. I know the downfalls of the role alot better than you do, so I don't need you guessing at what the job involved. After I quit only 1 person applied as it became evident what this job was all about.

Eh technician roll finished at least ten years ago although they kept the 500 quid extra a year .
The job before TSM was actually lead engineer which was no where near what a technician was. Anyone with any sense would have seen the downfalls of the roll and not applied in the first place.
As i did when i turned down field manager and various other rolls at leics. and that is not made up.
As i have said to your counterpart dangermouse i had a far better insight into the company than the pair of you put together and could see the downfalls of TSM stroke lead engineer jobs

Your posts are getting more and more ridiculous by the minute. I'm not gonna respond to anymore of your self indulgent nonsense. You can argue with DM if you like, but your boring me. I didn't come on here to argue with people with ego's so big they can't accept they could ever be wrong or no less than someone else. I find this industry is a constant learning process, no one ever knows everything. but you clearly think your an exception. good luck to you, your obviously doing well for yourself. so why pick arguments? who knows, only you can answer that. talk to yourself from here....

Yep totally ridiculous did you not say 6/7 posts ago you didn`t need to justify yourself. TSM sounds good but in reality a job no one wanted which is why they had to advertise it in the national press the first time ever any internal job such as this was offere to outsiders . WHY

Our boiler has stopped working and we have narrowed it down to Gas valve - where can I find a schematic of the layout of the boiler? Need to get heating fixed before it gets wetter/colder
Theres usually a schematic wiring diagram on the back of the door! You shouldn't need that to figure out whether or not power is getting to the valve!
Aside from the bickering you were asked a question about the colour of button/s on the gas valve
