Tile removal - damaged wall

I’m redoing the bathroom and started pulling off the tiles, but they’re pulling what looks like (to me…and I’m very much an amateur) the skim coat of plaster off the wall with them.

I’m looking to tile the wall, I don’t have the space to build out a frame and then board it.

Can I remove the rest of the tile adhesive to make the wall more level and tile onto it directly? Prime it first?

Can I dot and dab boards straight onto this? Then tile that? I think I’d prefer that, flatter base to tile on. I just don’t know if it’s ok, will it hold? I’ve never used dot and dab.

6mm cement board or similar will give you a firm smooth background for tiling.

How thick and what size are the tiles?

Dot and dab cement board will be fine, but if you are going for large format porcelain tiles, you may want to drive some screws through the dots and in to the block work.
