hi
my builder has removed all cement from bathroom walls and stripped back to the brickwork.
the builder then applied a cement/sand base.
the builder then applied a layer of thistle bonding.

the builder now plans to trowel a layer of water resistant flexible ceramaic tile adhesive to the wall to tile the wall.

is this a problem as the bonding will absorb water and eventually crumble? should the builder not apply multi thistle and then tile over that?

i am v worried as the reason for getting the bathroom done again was due to water seeping through to the other side of the shower wall to the stairs wall as a result of using shower around a wall that was not fully tiled.

please help

thanks

rick

You should be - tiling onto bonding is a no-no.

Tiling onto the sand\cement base would be fine.
