I think you are checked against the criminal register for any serious offences. Maybe you think it’s just so they can say "Welcome to Austria, Mr Nosey"?

They are criminals by paying traffickers and arriving here illegally on a small boat, that makes every one them criminals to start with. Whether they are dangerous or not requires them locking up first in a detention center to investigate.

I did think it possibly might be the point. But then I thought, no. Surely, nobody would write something so stupid and banal. But clearly I overestimated you. I won't make the same mistake again.
I still don't see how it fits in with the discussion we were having about dangerous, savage criminals.
