Called this afternoon to a kitchen with no power at sockets except one.

The one working socket was on ringmain pre harmonised colours, I found fused spur under worktop fed from the working socket, the spur was supplying the other 5 double sso's + one single sso for the hob  (in itself not wrong but a bit of thought about the location & useage of sockets might have been wise)
Replaced the blown fuse told customer not to use to many appliances at same time all tickity boo.
Anyway noting that the T/E was of the harmonised variety I asked customer when it had been installed and why not extend the ringmain.
It was done late last year when the kitchen was replaced, they were told best it's wired this way as it was cheaper than rewiring the whole circuit :?: (warpped logic there then)
Done by a family friend who had just completed a 7 day P course somewhere in dartford with the view of going selfemployed handyman, unfortunately he's on holiday so I picked up a nice 45 notes for a 13amp 1362, was going to do it as a freebi but she mentioned the 7 day wonder course so thought sod it & wrote an invoice :D

Sounds like you have a very un PC attitude to DISQ part P persons.

Ok the work was screwed up, and OK you should have charged, but.....

Comments such as

You should keep such detail to yourself, are you the sort of trader that varies your price depending on the house / car value in the drive ?

Your likely to be a thoroughly decent chap (aka Harry Enfield voice), but that remark is low, very low

At the same time, if a bit of common sense was used when the DISQ installed the circuit in the first place and did it properly all this could have been avoided.
