Whatever 'gadgets' you used on the course would be a good start. Presumably a '1000v set' is an insulated tool set, but this sort of thing is down to personal preference and what you find most comfortable to work with. I personally use Knipex pliers/cutters and Facom screwdrivers.
Here's my HAND tools
Missing from that picture is my big hacksaw, insulated junior hacksaw, insulated allen keys, insulated cable knife, small spirit level, ratchet cable cutters, set square, spanner set and probably a few other bits.
