As I said earlier, your rad should still get hot.
Thats why you needed to make sure the lockshield was fully open.

TRV stuck closed?
Providing the differential pressure is not too great modern TRVs can be fitted either end.
No it's a new install brb

The valves are still not the right way around though. Hoping this is ok.

Well, apparently the TRV's position isn't detrimental, so you will be alright.
There's no right or wrong way for rad valves.
As stated above there bi directional.
On the Danfoss RAS2 valve you remove the valve head and there's a collar that moves to suit flow direction.
