I want to st up a trade account with a particular company.

I need 3 trade references to set it up, but i dont want an account with anyone else and dont need any other trade accounts, if i set them up they will have to say but he doesnt buy anything from us, what are you supposed to do?

You've got two options. The first is tell your new supplier that you don't have any other trade accounts and they will probably give you an account anyway if you've got a clean track record.

The second is what most people do. I don't know anything about your circumstances but when I first started I was sub-contracting to other companies. I used them as trade references even though they were paying me. They were all more than happy to help.

As long as you intend to pay your new supplier it doesn't really matter, it's just a formality.

I still use companies I trade services with for reference as opposed to wholesalers simply because I don't want my existing suppliers to know what other suppliers I use. You often get better prices that way.
