hi can anyone help ? my transit connect diesel 03 / 1-8 ltr wont heat up the gauge reads very little after 60 mins and my wife is freezing and complaining as she uses it every day i have fitted ford thermostat but only cardbord in rad raises the temperature help please john

Has it always been like this, because modern diesels produce very little heat and if the weather is cold the heater is probably demanding more than the engine can supply under light load, does the temperature increase going up a steepish hill.

I did about four miles in my Hdi 406 this afternoon and the temperature was only about half way up, it only reached full temperature after climbing a long hill.

If this has only just happened it could be down to a faulty thermostat.

Is the cooling fan running all the time? (Assuming its an electric one, not the viscous coupled type).
Failing that, I'd try another thermostat.
John :)
